Brown Town Reviews:
Northlane / / Node

Now, I was blown away by this band in 2010 with the release of their EP “Hollow Existence” and every release since then has left me salivating, wanting more.
Northlane hail out of NSW, and if you haven’t heard about them yet, this full-length is the testament that soon the mainstream will be filled with metal bands such as this one.
Put them in whatever box you want, (Progressive, Ambient). They’re metal regardless.

A track I must mention thoroughly is “Rot”.
Scintillation is guaranteed from this song as it’s structure is picture perfect, and the lyrics scream out that the powers in this world that must be eventually stepped down if humanity and existence for us all will continue to thrive.
Check out the tracks “Obelisk”, “Nameless” and “Ohm” while you’re at it too!

Rather than go too deep into this album all I really will say is that the strong message of letting go of your own mortality is deeply engrained into this beautiful masterpiece of an Australian album. With earthly tones and a heart warming feel mixed in with the eventual counterpoint perspective, the doubt will ease off you only to be brought back into the chaotic tones this band provide for the listener.

Northlane, beautiful work guys.
8.9 out of 10.
